How can I try Tabtone’s editor before recording a real tab?
Open Tabtone’s recordings studio and click Try a sample. It creates three original synthesized tones, including a quiet passage, so you can test split suggestions, trimming, names and exports before making a real tab recording.
Learn the editor with disposable audio
Your first useful test does not need to involve a meeting, a song or a carefully prepared voiceover. The built-in sample provides audio you can experiment with freely. It is particularly helpful for understanding why changing the quiet-audio settings can change the number of suggested tracks.
The sample is generated inside the editor. It demonstrates the editing and export workflow, rather than proving that audio capture works on a particular website. Afterward, make a separate short recording of audio you own or have permission to capture to check the full path.
Try the main decisions in order
- With Tabtone installed, open its popup and choose Open recordings. In the studio’s recordings area, click Try a sample.
- Inspect the waveform and suggested tracks. Click Preview on each track and listen for the quiet material as well as the louder tones.
- Change Split when silence lasts and observe the suggestions. A longer required gap generally produces fewer boundaries. Use Merge at on an available boundary, then Restore split at to bring it back.
- Toggle Trim silence at the start & end and compare the edges. Expand Fine-tune quiet audio and try a lower, more negative threshold to keep softer material above the silence decision.
- Rename the stopped recording and an individual track. Choose MP3, export that track, then choose WAV and export again. Open both downloaded files to check the result.
Know what you have tested
This exercise checks how the editor’s controls feel, what individual exports contain and where downloads land on your computer. It also lets you learn the difference between a whole recording name and a track name without losing track of a real project.
It does not test selected-tab permissions, source playback, microphone exclusion or whether protected media is available. For the next step, open an ordinary audio tab and follow the selected-tab recording workflow. Keep the test short: Free recordings stop and save at 3 minutes. Check the selected recording length before starting; the sample does not change that limit.
If the sample leads to more questions, review quiet-passage detection and compare the export formats. Once you have checked the downloaded test files, you can delete the sample recording through the studio’s confirmation flow. You will have practiced the same decisions needed for a real take, using audio made for experimentation.
Put your browser audio to use.
Record the tab you choose, split it into tracks and save the parts you need as MP3 or WAV.
