Why is there no Add to Chrome button?
Tabtone is coming to the Chrome Web Store. Public downloads are not available yet. See the Chrome release status or explore the guides.
Why did my recording stop?
Free takes stop and save at three minutes; the local Pro preview offers ten. Closing the source tab also ends the take. Storage errors or limits can stop it earlier. Open recordings to check what was saved and read the recording length guide.
What if the recording is silent?
Check that the selected source tab is actually playing audio and that the player is not muted. Browser-internal pages cannot be recorded and protected media may be unavailable. Try the built-in sample to check editing and export separately. If captured audio is very quiet, lower the silence threshold before concluding nothing was saved. Fine-tune quiet audio for more detail.
Can I record my voice or a whole meeting?
Tabtone has no microphone capture or video recording. It captures only the audio the selected tab outputs. It is designed around short takes, so use a suitable recording tool for long meetings or a microphone session. See what is recorded without a microphone.
Can I close the popup while recording?
Yes. Keep Chrome and the source tab open, then reopen Tabtone to choose Stop & save. Closing Chrome or reloading the extension ends capture. The popup guide covers how to check recording state.
Where are my audio files?
Takes autosave into the extension’s local library. They do not download automatically or sync to another device. Use Export for individual tracks or Save original for the browser recording. Keep a normal file backup before clearing browser data or removing the extension.
Chrome closed during a take. Can I recover it?
Reopen Tabtone’s studio. It can recover fully committed audio chunks and mark an interrupted take, but the final seconds may be missing. A partial original may not play even when the recovered PCM can export. Read the recovery steps.
Why does WAV not sound better than the source?
WAV contains the captured PCM without another lossy encoding step. It does not recover detail already missing from browser playback. Likewise, a higher MP3 bitrate cannot improve the source. Compare MP3, WAV and Save original.
Still working it out?

Try the built-in sample to check editing and export separately from browser capture. Keep private recordings and source URLs out of any screenshots you choose to share.
